Dear Friend,
According to a recent study from the Survey Center of American Life, an "unsettling" trend has finally been confirmed. That unsettling trend is this: Women are leaving Christianity and the church in unprecedented numbers. More than any time in history, women are leaving their church and their congregation and disaffiliating from any organized religion.
Why is this? What has caused this trend? Many people may think that perhaps it is the whole social justice warrior movement and the radical left which is causing this disaffiliation. However, this is not the case at all!
Women of all backgrounds and of all political viewings and of all generations are leaving the church. In fact, for the first time in history...
More Women Are Leaving the Church than Men!
Why is this? What is causing this trend and is there a crisis amongst organized religion as we know it?
You see, the fact is about 80% of purchasing decisions are actually driven by the woman of the household——as much as a man tries to appear as macho and "alpha" in making all of the decisions. There was a fascinating study that came out wherein consumers in the golf market who would buy clubs——golf clubs and gear and all of that——their purchase decisions first had to be okayed by their wives.
Now think about what this means for the future of organized religion. If women are leaving in droves, guess who else shall soon be following them? That's right, the men.
Which begs the question: why is it that so many women feel disenchanted about their church, their organized religion, their congregation?
Well, there seems to be one hint and one idea——and that is in the same exact study——they found that nearly two-thirds of women say churches do not treat men and women equally. As much progress as there has been, there is still a lot holding back modern churches from treating women as gifts and embracing them in the body of the church.
This is something that I only see accelerating over the next decade and especially beyond that——unless that is——there is a call to arms.
There needs to be a call to action amongst women to restore the true faith and the true calling of their organized religions, and that brings me to a compelling, fascinating book that I want to introduce you to today.
The new book I'm talking about is titled:
Don't Ask for Permission. Don't Apologize.
The subtitle is:
Become the Powerful Woman God Called You to Be.
This book is written by Dr. Kim West. Dr. Kim is a fascinating and extremely talented human being. She is a leader in her community and her background actually revolves around healing, growth, coaching, and counseling people and clients.
It is through her work that she noticed this common story and this common trend——and this set her on a path to write a book——a call to arms for women to take back their voice if they feel it quashed away in their current church or organized religion.
Kim's book shows you that you are a powerful woman of God and that you are God-designed and called by Him to live out the unique design that He has crafted for you. Kim wants to rip off the reticent attitude that many women feel like they have to adopt if they want to fit in with their congregation.
Many women feel like they have to tiptoe around and walk on eggshells instead of sharing their real thoughts and their real opinions in their church. Kim's book will show you how to shed your fear of becoming who you were called to be in the eyes of God.
In doing so, you will avoid all of the pitfalls and downfalls that so many women have unfortunately had to go down——that is, discarding your religion entirely.
As you can imagine, there is so much religious trauma out there, especially for women and more unfortunately, it is caused by the unwise leaders of certain congregations in certain churches. Kim is giving you a manifesto, a step-by-step playbook for how to prevent against this and also how to heal from this——and more importantly, how to become the unique individual that God shaped you to be——without throwing out the baby with the bath water.
Now to get a little personal, I'd love to share with you a story from my own life. You see, I was raised and brought up in an Episcopal church down the street from me. An Episcopal church is kind of like the Catholic church except they are more progressive. There is no Pope like the Catholic church. There is no idea that the Pope is above everyone else and talks directly to God.
As we've seen from history, there are some extremely horrible popes that can attest to the fact that not all of them were chosen by God. (I don't want to go on a tangent, but if you want to find some amusing reads, just Google the term "worst popes of all time." There are some crazy ones out there.)
Anyway, back to the point——I was raised in an Episcopal church. My very first pastor was named Pastor Lisa. That's right. She was a female pastor. She was excellent. She was incredible. She was a brilliant teacher, a brilliant mind, and very loving and caring.
I thought nothing of this. I thought that a woman pastor was completely normal. This was up until high school in which my parents wanted me to go to a Catholic school, and as it just so happens, in order to have a better shot at getting into this Catholic school, I had to go to their Catholic church——and the cherry on top was that you also got a 10% tuition break if you went to this Catholic church and tithed.
Therefore, for whatever reason, I was plucked up out of the Episcopal church and sent to a Catholic church in high school.
In this church there were many more dogmatic things. Priests had to remain unmarried. There could be no female priests, and they seemed to reference and cherry-pick some weird old out-of-context quote from what they call the Old Testament. (Spoiler alert: there is no such thing as the Old Testament nor the New Testament. That was an invention and incantation of some Roman pagan Christian long after the death of Jesus.)
Anyway, back to the point. What I'm getting at here is that I was very grateful to be brought up in the Episcopal church because I could see the love of Jesus being spread and grew up in a church where I was fortunate enough to see the leadership and power of the female presence in Pastor Lisa.
And yet I am apparently one of the lucky ones because so many people experience an upbringing in a church that is the antithesis of this.
They grow up in a church where the priests and pastors are clinging to ancient and old ideas, cherry-picking them not for the sake of sticking to their moral beliefs, but for the sake of doing whatever they were told to do. And in this environment, so many women have felt relegated to second-class citizens.
Which is why I believe Dr. Kim's book is so important.
It is a life-changer for you and it is the very best way to end your year by picking up a copy of her book.
