He explains the lessons learned from his experiences in a clear way & concise way. As someone who appreciates both the digital and analog world, I like how Penpreneur shows how to bridge that gap and bring lasting value to a loyal tribe. The book is engaging, easy to read and presents the plan in a story style which sticks in your head. About halfway through the book, there are ten words that encapsulate the essence of this business model. Ironically, if you skip the rest of the book, those ten words won’t hold any significance. I’ve been aware of these ten words for at least two decades, and according to the book, Scott was familiar with them as well. However, neither of us believed it at the time. If you’re seeking a straightforward approach to building a solid business, I highly recommend reading the book.

A huge benefit I noticed so far is his layout techniques. The wide spacing between each line and paragraph and the occasional, bold sentences that he places for emphasis, makes each page easy to read and inspired me to use them in my own book right away. Before joining Scott's course, I thought that writing a book about becoming an environmental artist was impractical. But now, I'm a confident writer, with a solid plan to attract my dream readers and finish my book this year. With Penpreneur, I am seeing Scott practice what he preaches, and I'm inspired to finish the book as a jolt to my creative freedom.

Scott’s words give me the grit to write my own book, my way, no handrails, no shortcuts (just 3 by 5 cards). I’ve barely scratched the surface, but I jumped to Chapter 26. "Tribe of Superfans." Scott has them. He built them from scratch and now he’s showing me how. Not with diagrams or empty promises, but with the kind of honesty you trust, like the sturdiness of a well built Airstream RV. I retired a year ago. Plenty of options ahead, somehow, I chanced upon Scott and am close to launching my own book. Scott’s spirit is something between wisdom and instinct. He has shown me a path. A quieter one. Analog. A place where you cut loose from the hum of electrons and just think.

I love the quote from Scott’s book- "The journey of a penpreneur is not just about writing; it's about creating a legacy through words and turning your passion into profit" I love the metaphor of writing to being on a journey and I am using that same theme in my book- Such a power book and message and it has already helped me go further on the difficult path of writing with a powerful tool in my backpack! Penpreneur by Scott P. Scheper outlines his well crafted program by which anyone willing to put in the work can make a solid livelihood pursuing their field of interest, no matter how specialized it seems to be. This book shows you how to find and maintain the audience you were meant to serve. The program is doable and sustainable. It is well worth the effort to pursue.

I couldn’t put the book down! I’m already in Write to Freedom but I thoroughly enjoyed the backstory and hero’s journey to hone the AK funnel and share it with others. It's striking how much Scott gives back when he doesn’t have to do anything. I also didn’t know the GreenLamp story and my jaw dropped when I realized how much backend work has been smoothed out for those of us who use it. I love the banker’s Green Lamps as well so it’s a fun emotional addition to my fandom of WTF.

My favorite part so far was Scott’s humor and authenticity. He shares openly his journey from chaos to success in navigating the many paths to building a business that will support your interests, make you less bitter and more willing to produce (when it’s something you are able and love to do) I too like he mentions in 41 prefer “Dicking around” rather than hard work. I loved his comment about having to basically be a slave to your audience in 55. It really is chalked full of resources and processes I wish I had 10 years ago! I will finish it eventually as I’m also working through his incubator (slowly at that). He encourages me that the slow way is the sure way and deliberate way to achieve long lasting joy, happiness and success.

He made every mistake possible and then figured out the solution to overcome each one. He has worked personally with hundreds of people to make their dreams come true through writing about what they are interested in. We are fortunate he has shared all this knowledge in a book that is now available to everyone. This book is brilliant and will change your life!

I do my best THINKING by writing. I always loved to write. Old-school. On paper. With a lead pencil, or a fountain pen. Over the years I was able to "translate" that to the typewriter, and then the laptop. But here was this guy, Scott Scheper, talking about writing, on paper, and creating a viable business, and a life of freedom by writing "one thing a month", on paper! I tore through this book! Here are my "takeaways"... Understanding your internal desire is crucial, no matter what you do, or you'll be stuck in an endless groundhog day of unfulfillment. Scott shows you HOW to do that, and why. Scott teaches how if you don't get to your internal desires, and only use external motivations, it'll lead to burnout. However if what drives you is internal, you will have staying power in good times and bad, and THAT is what leads to success. I was that person. Scott has taken the best of the previous institutional "Intellectual Life" and ripped the seams out, in the process showing anyone who desires to answer their internal calling, how to stitch together a "New-Intellectual Life", and write our way to the freedom we crave. Follow his steps.

Kudos to Scott for not only sharing how to duplicate his success, but also for sharing the rough patches, failures, and hard lessons that he experienced along the way. In the spirit of "showing the work," he gifts us the benefit of learning from his mistakes.

And in a world that values quick results over quality, I appreciate this piece of the Penpreneur Creed: "I adopt a 'turtle mindset.' That is, I move slowly and deliberately."

This book cuts through the myths perpetuated by influencers and content creators who make their money off of selling you systems they've never successfully implemented themselves. Scott is the real deal. He writes, works, and lives with an integrity and authenticity you can trust.

You can't help but cheer Scott on as you read. My favorite part is Chapter 16, where Scott writes about the three requirements for being successful with analog publishing.

I appreciated the openness of Scott by sharing their journey to become a neo-intellectual individual. One of my favorite parts of the book is the AK Funnel. I was surprised by how a simple system composed of some web pages can yield some powerful results. As a software developer, I know how challenging it can be to integrate technologies and make them work seamlessly. Seeing how Scott identified the problem and converted it into an opportunity for a product (Greenlamp) was interesting and inspiring to me.
