The Text You Never Want to Get While Boarding a Flight

The Text You Never Want to Get While Boarding a Flight

November 26, 20224 min read

The one text message you never want to get⸺as you're about to board a flight⸺is a text message that reads: "Your connecting flight has been rebooked from this evening at 7:00 p.m. to tomorrow at 5:15 a.m."

This, my friend, is the message I received while boarding a flight from San Diego to Denver with my (tolerant) fiancé and my two-year-old in tow.

This meant we would be stuck in Denver from roughly 6:00 p.m. until 5:15 a.m. the next morning.

To hell with this. We immediately went over to the airline's info desk. My (tolerant) fiancé stepped in and took the lead. "Is there any other route you can book us on?" The worker replied with something along the lines of them sucking and they couldn't do a thing. So, we were forced to make a decision: Do we head home and visit my odd-duck grandmother another time? Or… do we say screw it, and fly to Denver, and figure it out from there.

We thought about it for a bit⸺and then decided on Option #2. Screw it, let's do it.

We boarded the flight to Denver and, my (tolerant) fiancé pulled off some magic. See, she grew up in Colorado, and went to college out there, which meant she still had some friends and connections living there.

She called one of her friends who lived twenty minutes away from the Denver airport. Luckily for us, her friend was willing to let us crash in her guest room until we needed to wake up and leave for the airport the next day (at 2:40 a.m.).

Yes, this sucked, but it was great news.

What was not so great news, however, was that it was practically a blizzard in Denver! We landed in a snowstorm (which is why our flight was delayed in the first place).

I'll save the other crazy details for another time. But the bottom line is: We survived. We made it to Indiana, and we had a fantastic weekend with my odd duck grandmother (aka, "Duke").

While it was certainly a crazy travel experience, especially with a two-year-old, I was⸺believe it or not⸺able to be quite productive during the flights.

You see, on the flight from San Diego to Denver, I pulled out a stack of notecards (which I always keep), and I began to write. I wrote the entire flight with my soul-daughter sleeping on the seat next to me. The words were flowing from my pen.

What was I writing, you ask?

I was brainstorming a special offer that I'm going to give you, for free, when my book launches on December 9th at 11:00 a.m. (Pacific Timezone). As a part of this offer, I'm going to give you several surprises for free. These will greatly accelerate your results in learning the Antinet Zettelkasten. It will aid you in your journey of becoming a prolific reader, writer, thinker, and creator.

I'll save the full surprise for December 9th, but I'll share with you just one part of it now. You see, it is a Friday here at my office in downtown San Diego. Nobody is here (other than yours truly, the crazy Analog Knowledge Revolutionary who walks around his corporate office suite wearing a backward Irish cap).

Yet, in just a moment my (tolerant) fiancé will be arriving here, as well. I have convinced her to spend the day taking photos of the notecards I used to write my book on the Antinet. That way, you can see an up close and personal look of what the notecards look like that created my book.

I am going to provide you with an archive of these high-res photos, which will serve as the perfect companion for the Antinet Zettelkasten book.

Best part about all of this? I'm going to give you this for free on the day of the book launch.

Actually, I lied.

That's not the best part of this.

The best part is that this is only one of several surprises I've got in store for you on December 9th.

Stay tuned, and stay crispy.

Your friend,

Scott P. Scheper
