I'm Literally Set For Life

I'm Literally Set For Life

March 16, 20234 min read

These past two weeks have reminded me of the best decision I ever made.

You see, I've spent most of my adult life building audiences and customers around other companies.

I've had a ton of success doing such and——if I may say, I'm damn good at doing such——but I've mostly remained in the background.

Well, a little over a year ago, I began building a tribe around my own personal brand.

This has turned out to be the best decision I ever made.

Because of this, I'm now working on a side venture with a fellow Scott Scheper Letter subscriber, which looks very promising.

How did this come about?

Through building my own tribe.

Or here's another example: On Tuesday this week, I had dinner with a friend who's visiting and is also a fellow Scott Scheper Letter subscriber.

This individual is profoundly successful.

Let me put it this way: He's way more successful than 99% of the popular "startup founder gurus" you find farting away their time on Twitter.

This guy is the real deal.

Because he's part of my tribe, and because he reads The Scott Scheper Letter, he's already up-to-speed on my philosophies.

This makes our meetups even more beneficial for both of us!

More importantly, he's learned some valuable lessons from my content, which he can apply to his own business.

These are but two examples of dozens of opportunities that have emerged from building my own tribe.

But the benefits of building a tribe go way beyond business opportunities.

Great connections and friendships emerge, as well.

Take, for instance, my consigliere, Terry Grier.

Terry has become a valuable friend and someone I can regularly go to for feedback.

Because he's a part of my tribe, he possesses a unique perspective.

This proves to be invaluable!

How can you tell if you're successfully building a tribe?

When you receive physical mail.

For instance, Terry recently sent me an awesome card in the mail thanking me for what I do.

Here's a photo:

Or take Kathleen Spracklen, as an example.

Kathleen is a microcomputer chess pioneer (and an absolute genius).

Although Kathleen is in her seventies, she's still sharper than most people on this planet——this is thanks, in part, to her Antinet (aka, "Zeek"), who keeps her mind sharp.

Kathleen sent me a card in the mail after reading Issue No. 3 of The Scott Scheper Letter (which bore some somber news).

Here's a photo of the card:

These friendships and connections are the benefits of building a tribe around your personal brand.

By building a tribe, I now have thousands of people like these who I know, like, and trust.

It focuses me such that I can build books, products, and content centered on providing value to the people I value!

It's hard to describe the feeling of having your own tribe.

It literally sets you free.

I don't have to go anywhere else to get approval, control, or security.

All I have to do is serve my tribe of people——who I genuinely know, like, and trust!

I can quite honestly say, that because I've built my own tribe——

I'm Literally Set For Life.

Now…

The question is…

How do you create your own tribe?

The answer to that requires more time than I can afford to get into right now, however…

I will say this: Fundamentally, creating your own tribe comes about through building your own email list.

And the best way to build an email list is through something I call an "email magnet."

80% of my tribe has been built through my own email magnet.

In the upcoming issue of The Scott Scheper Letter, I'll be teaching you precisely how to create——and write——your own email magnet.

This is something you can easily do——even if you're not the best writer.

Now…
